Snowing Job Offers

What's the weather like over there? It's snowing job offers over here.

---

With the offer** now comes the negotiation. Internships and entry-level offers can be typically standard/boilerplate. There are areas to negotiate and just having someone to be with you during that process can be very helpful. For experienced people / having some work experience, there is will wiggle room for negotiating a number of things. There is also common sense. Lots of information on the Internet about the dos and don’ts of salary negotiation.

*not the remote kind that you pay for - which is a dangerous thing

Why I Created the #CareerAccelerator™

I created Project RISE (Regionally, International Students Employed) because global talent flocks to our cities and then leaves. Only when this talent can find a home do we all win.

To solve that problem, I created Career Accelerator™ (就职加速器). Students investing in US education succeed in getting a great US internship or full-time job within weeks via this program when they follow the process.

25, 28, 30, 42, 45: my students have taken as few as this # of days to get internships and offers from start to offer. JPM, F500, MBB + more.

What’s one aspect of your hunt where some advice might be useful?

When students seek an answer to THAT question, I see students even w/o experience start to generate great offers.

Who am I: bi-lingual 中英Mentor helping to get interviews and offers here in the US, building on years of experience at elite institutions.

This time and this place is your best shot to globalize your resume and get great experience.

That’s why I created the ...

Following an Orderly Process Naturally

Take a break from your job hunt? All of the nature experiences and reacts to the stress of human activity. The macaques of Mount Emei in Sichuan are no different during the time of the Wuhan coronavirus.

We are all connected. “Only one mantou per monkey please”. Amazing how they follow such an orderly process.

Seize the Opportunity

"I don't have enough experience, my English is not good enough, my education is not good enough, My ranking in school is too low, I can't socialize, my score is not high enough, "

---

It's actually a lot of people who say that to yourself.

Every day so to say to themselves is to die at the starting point. In fact, any interviewer has had this experience is not enough, but need to find a job.

Seize the opportunity, come on.

Orderliness of Hungry Monkeys

Sichuan province is the home of Mount Emei, one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. Visitors to the mountain will likely see dozens of Tibetan macaques, who can often be viewed taking food from tourists. Due to the Wuhan coronavirus situation, the tourists have stopped coming.

These are some hungry monkeys.

Next video to post: a scene of them getting fed. Check out their amazing orderliness.

Self-criticism For Progress

Can I share about my inner critic? Self-criticism played a role in my progress in school. It was like my “insurance policy”. As long as I was hard on myself, I felt I could progress. How about you? Today, for many of us, progress means a great internship / offer. That I define as the following, a job that:

appreciates your work,
challenges you
honors what you’ve learned
offers competitive compensation.

Could it happen at firms where my students are getting offers (MBB, JPM, F500 etc)?

Yes.

Are there thousands of firms and good bosses out there that also can fit the bill?

Yes.

But while we are updating about the status of the Wuhan situation, consider whether this inner critic is a “virus” that may be affecting and debilitating you, and could cause failure to launch.

If you want other people to conclude you are good / enough / 行, you need to conclude yourself that you are good / enough / 行.

Check if you go about your day saying that you are not good /...

Thinking About Wuhan Family

The Chinese side of my family is from Wuhan. This is a photo at Moshan (磨山) one of my favorite places at the East Lake (东湖). Normally we would go to Wuhan in the summer. I know that sounds crazy because it’s hot, but that is when our Chinese Joint Ventures (our kids) have their school holiday.

We think about Wuhan all the time. We hope you and your family members are well.

Spring recruiting in China is suspended - as I hear from recent graduates in Beijing.

Do you want to work in North America this summer or this fall?

If so, experience in North America will raise your 起点 if you ever plan to work in China.

I’m a global exec giving back because I used to be an international student, too.

I’m happy to discuss how to:

hear back after applying
stay here
do well at job fairs
get interviews
network
negotiate the offer

If you don’t mind a little tech, here is a link to my calendar: https://lnkd.in/eqP_7R4
