The Definitive Guide to FAST Job Offers

fast job offer Apr 27, 2021

Introduction

There are many misconceptions about how soon one can find a job. Some people think that it requires months.

Some consider that “since KPMG has closed recruiting”, then all bets are off and it’s hopeless.

Or "I've only got a MS" or "I've only got a BA", or "I've got a PhD but no experience".

The ego will spin many stories to keep YOU at the center of things, even when it's about putting yourself down.

I’ve prepared a definitive guide with 3 Tips on how to get offers fast.

Getting Hired Fast? Yes, A ‘secret weapon’ is staring you in the face

Just a few years ago, the job hunt was very different.

Companies hired based on grades or school pedigree, or just based on an alumni connection, with networking always a good thing.

Companies didn’t yet have so many different channels into which they sold their products, and the range of KPIs measured was limited.

With the change in sales channels and KPIs, the employment market has changed.

Now, companies are dynamic in how they hire, because their response to the market has become more dynamic.

Hiring specific to a set of KPIs is now a must.

Now that firms care LESS about grades or pedigree, and “do you get what our KPIs are”?, you can 100x your hireability just by choosing to have a focus. It’s a special advantage you can literally gain in one day..

Companies are less likely to see a degree or a major as their “solution”.

Why does getting hired now matter?

This is simple. Getting the job means getting actual experience - really the only thing that counts toward the NEXT great job, towards cementing your academic experience.

Getting that next internship or full-time job NOW is going to 10X the value of what you’ve learned in school in the eyes of your NEXT employer.

Tip # 1: Realize that you are just one meeting away

Ariel, “I was looking for a job in April hoping to start work in May, but applying and never hearing back.

“I would ‘reject’ the companies first before they would reject me. By immediately ignoring the company after I applied, they couldn’t reject me first”.

This is what Ariel shared in our chat. The approach helped her cope, but it did not lead to her getting hired, which is what she wanted.

She ran with some of the information I shared, now part of my Free Job Offer Secrets Library

She got her job so fast. Here’s how she described it:

Tip #2: Pick a Focus.

Traditional advice is to keep options open and apply in many places.

Bad advice now that companies are so granular in the KPIs they measure.

Bad advice, since you can’t be all things to all people.

And you don't need to marry your first choice of career.

For you in the job hunt, you want to: pick an industry, a sub-industry and a “niche” within that and get interested in solving the problems of that niche.

Let’s say you wanted to do business analytics. You were thrown into that bucket as a major. Ok, fine. You’re still out in the open waters of the ocean with no fish around.

Next, decide how you’d do your BA work. “I choose to do BA for marketing firms”. Ok, this is one step closer, but still to general to really address the actual problems and ONE group of managers has.

Go further: “I will help sports marketing firms as a business analyst”. OK, you’re getting closer - but still too general to be able to sink your teeth into actual employer needs.

There are as many kinds of analytics as there are flavors of ice cream: growth analytics, cost analytics….You need to go deeper, still.

So now you go further: “I want to help sports marketing firms enhance their growth analytics as a Business Analyst.”

You are seriously WAY closer in time and space than you have ever been. Now is your time. Let’s make it happen - Job Offer Secrets is a way to do that for FREE

Tip #3: Start talking to people doing exactly what you want to be doing.

So what to do next? Set up calls or meetings with the junior level person. Ask all your dumb questions.

Yeah, just call them dumb questions. It doesn’t matter.

There’s stuff that you don’t know. It’s OK.

The crazy thing is that we attract what we are, not what we want.

So, if we ARE the person now getting in touch with colleagues and bosses via networking, then we ARE GOING TO BECOME that person.

It’s just a detail when we start that those people being as “potential” colleagues or bosses.

Eventually they will become ACTUAL colleagues.

I would say KEEP APPLYING, but promise me that if you do so, you’ll follow-up on those applications with emails, calls and more messages. I don’t want you
