TRANSCRIPT

My name is Wendy Zhang and I'm currently at McKinsey working as an Associate Consultant. Before that, I was a life sciences post-doc staff researcher. When I decided to leave the lab and look for a new job opportunity, I felt it was tough because I did not have a lot of consulting or business background. On top of that, I had never done any job applications before, so had no idea how to proactively and confidently go after opportunities.

I remember just how difficult it was to get even a single interview opportunity and I was rejected. The interviewer told me: my normal communicating and interviewing showed a lack of confidence.

Stuart assessed my situation, and step-by-step he advised me. He advised me from his experience how to develop an effective network, and how in interview situations to convey my strengths and advantages so in the subsequent months I applied Stuart's suggestions to change my strategy to get through round after round of interviews to land my ideal job offer.

I feel that without Stuart's mentoring, I think there would have been no way to in such a short period of time to make such an effective and targeted adjustment, so I really thank Stuart. And not only that, after I got the McKinsey offer, I can continue to keep in touch with Stuart and maintain great communication.

And in the future I know there will be areas where I will want to continue to gain his advice. Stuart is a great teacher and understands the job search challenges Chinese students face. And he can use his own experience to motivate you. Highly worth, recommending!
